Doxel’s New Tiny Tank Could Help Impove Large Construction Projects

Large construction projects can sometimes prove to be a big hassle in handling. People are bound to make mistakes on such large projects, and even the tiniest of mistakes can prove to be a great danger for the project as it can cause delays in work or lead to bigger problems down the line if not handled quickly. Over the past couple of months, a new tech startup by the name of Doxel has been working on high tech artificial intelligence robots that can help monitor large construction projects and ultimately make sure they are error-free.

The man behind this is the 26 year old CEO of Doxel, Saurabh Ladha. He projects that this innovation will be able to save both time and money. It would consist of a series of robots, both aerial and ground, that would be equipped with HD cameras and LIDAR that can see through walls and would be able to climb stairs and navigate construction terrain to inspect every square inch of a construction project each day. The data would be collected and analyzed by an AI that compares it to blueprints, plans, and schedule to see whether everything is done correctly and on time. If something is built incorrectly or construction is running behind schedule, the AI would be able to detect it. Ladha said in a press statement, “The algorithms inspect the quality of the installed work and measure installed quantities in real time. This enables project managers to react to inefficiencies almost immediately and boost productivity as much as 50%” (Quirke).

In the near future, should Droxel’s innovations take off, it should have a dramatic impact on the construction industry. Construction projects constantly run over budget and are behind schedule. These robots will help reduce budgets for construction projects as well as increase productivity, therefore saving money. One negative effect it might have is that foremen who are normally in charge of overseeing construction projects might become a thing of the past, causing many people to lose their jobs. However, this would become a concern should these innovations really gain a foothold in the construction industry.
